Eduardo Tame ![]() Down Mexico Way - Avandaro Saturday, January 30, 2010 :: Posted 11:35:37 PM CST Avándaro is located about 100 miles from Mexico City, and it is an area higher in altitude. For that reason it is usually cold at morning and evening during winter, but the sun warms up during the day. The famous Monarch butterflies have in this site one of their refugees when they arrive from Canada early in the winter. But this time the sun did not show during the annual horse show. On Saturday the Grand Prix and the Sponsors Cup were held in a cold weather (well, cold for us. In the 50’s) but hundreds of riders and horses were happy to begin the year this way. The courses were designed by Brazilian Guillherme Jorge and 23 riders showed up for the Grand Prix.
