Charlie Jacobs and La Fille Rouge Reign Supreme in High Junior/Amateur-Owner 1.40m Jumper at Kentucky Spring Classic II

Lexington, Ky. – May 20, 2022 – The famed Rolex Stadium welcomed junior and amateur show jumping competitors Friday afternoon to contest the High Junior/Amateur 1.40m Jumper. Continuing with the second week of the Kentucky Spring Classic series, a total of 27 talented horse-and-athlete combinations vied for a top spot on the leaderboard in a one-round competition against the clock. In the end, it was Charlie Jacobs aboard CMJ Sporthorse, LLC’s La Fille Rouge who emerged victorious.

Anderson Lima (BRA) challenged the combined class of junior and amateur athletes with a tactful 13-fence track that utilized the ample space available in the Rolex arena. As a veteran mount that has already seen success in international show jumping competition, Jacobs was confident in the 14-year-old Oldenburg mare’s talent and experience as he entered the arena Friday focused on the win. Though not the quickest time posted on the board by the conclusion of the class, Jacobs and La Fille Rouge were the speediest duo to leave all of the rails intact, and their time of 64.266 seconds was enough to claim first place honors. Jacobs and La Fille Rouge look forward to continuing their winning ways Saturday as they contest the Show Jumping Hall of Fame High Amateur 1.45m Classic in the Rolex Stadium.

Second place was awarded to Daneli Miron aboard Miron Sporthorses LLC’s Vox Dei, a 13-year-old Anglo-Arabe de Croisement mare. Miron and Vox Dei crossed through the timers in a clear 66.903 seconds to finish just behind Jacobs and La Fille Rouge. Rounding out the top three with a time of 67.646 seconds was Mallory Vale and Gray’s Inn, an 8-year-old Czech Warmblood gelding owned by Thinkslikeahorse.

FROM THE WINNER’S CIRCLE

Charlie Jacobs – High Junior/Amateur 1.40m Jumper winner

On La Fille Rouge:
“It was a fun class. La Fille Rouge is a horse I bought last fall and she is now a veteran so to speak. She is a mare that has seen a lot, like world ranking classes. I bought her for the purpose of maybe being a speed horse for bigger shows. Because the amateur division was available to us I decided to get her in the ring and jump her around a bit. I did a few classes in Florida and had some success in the amateur CSI3* classes that were on the grass so today was a fun round. It was a fast class. There were people that caught my time but maybe had a rail, so I was fortunate to win. It’s tough competition out there with the amateurs and juniors but it’s a lot of fun! We had a ball – I’m really proud of her. Tomorrow we will do the [SJHF High Amatuer 1.45m Classic] and we look forward to that. Then she is going to rest and we will go up to Spruce Meadows and she will be one of my speed horses for those summer shows.”

On Kentucky Horse Shows:
“I absolutely love Lexington and the [Kentucky Horse Park]. It is a lovely horse show. It’s got the space and the footing, it’s been a lovely show. The weather is such a treat. We try to kick off the spring shows, at least traditionally myself, I am in the northeast, so it’s unusual for me to come here to Lexington. I came last year and I really enjoyed it so much that I can’t really imagine going back. I really enjoy it out here- there’s open space to flat the horses, the footing is spectacular, it’s very nice.”
