Out of the original pack of challengers in the $10,000 Mitchell-Innes & Nash Adult Amateur Classic, 12 pairs earned a slot in the immediate jump-off thanks to fault-free first efforts, with 10 adult amateurs navigating their horses to another foot-perfect trip over the short course to finish with a perfect record. Riding to a quick jump-off time of 26.848 seconds, James and Codicea swept the lead by more than a full second, with the next-best competitors, Keely O’Hara and Kevin Mccarthy’s Easton, tripping the timers in 28.069 seconds to nab the reserve honors. Rounding out the podium spots, owner-rider Jorge Gomez jockeyed Dallas De La Bonnett to third place with their final time of 28.860 seconds after leaving all the rails in their cups.

The day featured a series of other Classic winners across the show grounds, each offering prize money to the hopeful entries. In the 30-horse $10,000 Medium Junior 1.35m Classic, Tessa P. Brown and Rosemont Farm LLC’s Herman Hof Ter Zeedycke earned first prize, while Raleigh Hiler and Kurt Hiler’s Cassina 64 topped the leaderboard in the $10,000 Medium Amateur-Owner 1.35m Classic contest by beating out the 30 other partnerships.
